Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have reconciled, more than a year after she broke up with him. But what does this mean?

While they "have been romantically involved" recently, they are taking it one day at a time, E! News has learned exclusively. The two have gotten closer in recent months amid a positive change in Scott's behavior, a source said.

Separate Houses: But they haven't made that crucial step; Scott hasn't moved back in with their family. The two share sons Mason, 6, and Reign, 1, and daughter Penelope, 4. Scott had moved out of their family home and bought a new house for himself in December 2015. He renovated it and listed it for sale for $8.8 million this past June but it hasn't sold yet.

"While they may be giving their relationship another try, they aren't technically living together in the same home again," another source told E! News exclusively. "But their homes are very close to each other so they see each other all the time anyway because of the kids."

Kourtney and Scott have often spent time together, mostly with their kids, since she broke up with him the Fourth of July holiday in 2015.

While Scott will do once the house is sold "really just depends on how things go with them," the source said, adding, "But they've always been amicable and stayed best friends for the sake of their kids. They'll always be life mates, not just because of the kids but on a friendship level as adults—they're bound forever."

Cleaning Up His Act: Kourtney broke up with Scott after she saw pics of him looking cozy with another woman during a month-long party binge abroad.

Scott had checked into rehab for substance abuse months after their breakup.

"This time it's true that Scott has really cooled it with the partying," the source told E! News. "He has definitely leveled out and has his feet pretty even on the ground right now."

The first source had said he "got sick" of the partying and "decided to clean up his act."

"He's been trying to win Kourtney over for a while now but his constant partying was a huge issue," the source added. "He's been spending a lot more time with Kourtney and the kids and proving himself to show that his family is the priority."

They've Sought counseling: "They are in therapy and want to rebuild their relationship with each other," a third source told E! News.

They Both Sparked Romance Rumors With Other People Since Their Split: Kourtney stepped out with Justin Bieber in October 2015. She said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the two are friends. In January, Scott dated a model named Lina Sandberg briefly. A source told E! News at the time he had opted not to pursue a relationship with her and was trying to make his family the priority.

No Surprise—Scott Is Very Attracted to Kourtney: Scott and Kourtney had sparked rumors they had rekindled their relationship last month after being spotted on a family vacation in Mexico. Photos of the two showed them by the pool, with Kourtney wearing a bikini.

"Scott loves how sexy she looks and how she is taking care of herself," the third source told E! News. "That's important to him and always has been."

They Never Ruled Out a Reconciliation: Kourtney said on NBC's Today show this past April, when asked if she and Scott would ever get back together, "We're not getting back together right now, but I don't know what the future holds in life, in God's plan."

On an episode of I Am Cait that aired that month, Scott was asked if he thought he could win Kourtney back.

"Oh I don't know," he said. "I have absolutely no control over everybody and anybody else other than myself. And all I can do is just stay in the right path and if things fall into place and they're meant to be, I believe that they will be."
