Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole have only been a public couple since early 2016, but they've known each other since 2008, pre-One Direction fame for Liam.
But now that the couple are expecting their first child together, its' time to retrace how they got from there to here. So, here's every visible step of Payne and Cole's relationship:
2008: Fourteen-year-old Liam wows the judges, including Cheryl, during his first audition for the U.K. singing competition series, The X Factor. He was cut on the early side though, before the live shows began.
2010: Liam and Cheryl meet for the second time as the now 16 year-old Payne auditions again for The X Factor. Cheryl compliments the singer afterwards stating, "You've definitely got it. Whatever it is, you've got it. And your voice is really powerful."
February 2016: Six years later, Liam and Cheryl bring their relationship out into the open after the One Direction star changes his Instagram profile picture to the two of them.
May 2016: At the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival in France, the couple appear for the first time together on the red carpet.
November 2016: Cheryl debuts her baby bump as the pair are spotted leaving the St. James Christmas Carol Concert in London.
So there are a few blank spaces, but the future is looking pretty exciting!
