Their dad may be one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but Matthew McConaughey's kids don't seem to be too impressed by their famous dad.

After landing his latest role in Sing, the actor hoped to wow his and wife Camila Alves' three kids, Vida, Levi, and Livingston. But according to Mr. McConaughey, his kids couldn't care less about his role because they were too busy swooning over his co-stars.

"My daughter's already got a crush on one," the actor revealed to E!'s Marc Malkin at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. "You'll see, it's the gorilla. Wait until you hear the gorilla's voice." (spoiler alert: the gorilla, played by Taron Egerton, has a British accent).

But, despite him falling far from their favorite character, the kids did have to give their dad some credit, as he did spend a scene of the film belting out Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe."

"They love it, I'm Buster Moon around the house now," he joked. "They were glad I did it but they were into these other characters."

In the film, which comes out next week, McConaughey plays Buster Moon, a koala who is struggling to keep his theater open. But, after realizing how much untapped potential lives within his city, Mr. Moon decides to hold his own talent competition, SING, in an effort to bring hundreds of people into his crumbling theater with hopes that the show will help him keep his dreams, and his theater alive.

And with celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Tori Kelly, and Egerton, lending their voices to the film, we can't really blame Matthew's kids for being distracted from their multi-talented dad.

Sing hits theaters December 21st. (E! News and Universal Pictures are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
