Kanye West believes the future is going to be a better place, complete with less talking and more use of the emoji.
Kim Kardashian's husband opened up in an interview with Surface magazine, revealing his vision of "utopia" and what he hopes to see in the future.
"I don't think people are going to talk in the future," he explained. "They're going to communicate through eye contact, body language, emojis, signs. Imagine that. If everyone was forced to learn sign language."
He continued, "Yeah, sign language, eye contact. Or thank God for emojis. So often one emoji goes a long way and lets me get on with my whole day."
Of course, he also admitted it's a bit ironic for him to say, considering he's a rapper. "I've made a living off of words," he said. "But words get in the way of what you really want to say."
Using himself as an example and how he communicates with his daughter North West, 'Ye believes the business side of the world needs to function on a less complicated level to communicated in the future, too.
"I think business has to be stupider," he revealed. "I want to do really straightforward, stupid business—just talk to me like a 4-year-old. And I refuse to negotiate. I do not negotiate. I can collaborate. But I'm an artist, so as soon as you negotiate, you're being compromised."
The rapper thinks we'll begin to see a change in society as younger generations gain more powerful positions.
"There is currently a lack of people in power who are motivated by the idea of helping people," he explained. "But thanks to the internet, there are people who would never have made it through a corporate system who are able to jump into positions of power in their twenties. They can collectively work on ideas for the new world."
He continued, "Those are the people who can make the change. And will. It's not can; it's will. You have to will things into fruition. I think that in our time, our civilization, we can get to a place where," he paused. "When you say way overly optimistic things, they just get attacked."
For example, Kanye opened up a bit about the criticism he received after saying he was going to run for president in 2020.
"Some people say everyone was born an artist, and society and their parents beat it out of them...After I said I was going to run for president [at the 2015 MTV VMAs], I saw a video of someone making fun of me about it," he recalled. I was thinking, 'Wow, if this person had been doing this to me from the age of 3, I would have never been me.'"
Just as Kanye will continue being himself despite society and criticism, he believes the future will be focused entirely on art, and no one will be able to "beat" the artist out of anyone.
"As sure as people have eyes, artists shall rise," he told the magazine. "Masters of visuals. Masters of communication. The art of conversation."
He believes this type of culture will also knock down the walls between races.
"Ten years from now to be black is going to be a completely different thing, because of what we're doing now," he said. "Through culture. And business. And interracial dating."
