Patrick Dempsey and his wife of 17 years, Jillian Dempsey, have officially called off their divorce.
E! News has learned that Jillian filed to have the couple's divorce papers dismissed from court on November 4, and the judge granted it less than a week later, on November 10.
She originally filed for divorce after in January 2015, which Patrick has previously admitted turned his world upside down. In fact, he left ABC's Grey's Anatomy a few months later to focus on keeping his family together.
"Our marriage was not something I was prepared to let go of," he told People at the time. "I didn't feel like we had done all the work. And we both wanted to do that work. That's where it started."
Thus, they decided to seek counseling and fight for their relationship. "I wasn't prepared to give up on her and she wasn't either. We were both committed. We both wanted to fight."
The couple are parents to three children: daughter Tallula Dempsey, 14, and twin sons Darby Dempsey and Sullivan Dempsey, 9. They're one of the biggest reasons the couple worked so hard to stay together.
"It's always destabilizing when you're potentially breaking up a family," he said. "We want to be role models for our children—if you have differences, you can work them out."
Patrick said his relationship with Jill is "much healthier" now. He also has advice for anyone going through something similar.
"You've got to keep at it," he told People. "You've got to communicate, and stay open and not get lazy. And not give up. And lots of sex!"
