Muggles and moviegoers, do we have some exciting news to share with you.

Before Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters later this month, a huge casting announcement has just been made about the upcoming sequel.

According to Deadline, Johnny Depp is joining Eddie Redmayne and the cast for the second installment of the franchise. While his exact role remains top-secret for now, all signs point to the actor joining Zoe Kravitz and more stars once the sequel hits theatres in 2018.

They also hint that you may spot the actor in the first installment when it hits theaters November 18.

For those not up to date on one of the year's most anticipated movies, Fantastic Beasts documents the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.

And if you're wondering if the cast knows the excitement surrounding the film, we may have the answer.

"The stakes are high because [Harry Potter movies] were so good before," Eddie shared with E! News' Marc Malkin last September. "You don't want to screw it up."

He added, "It's a complete privilege for me. I love J.K. Rowling. I love the Harry Potter films [and] books so for me this is just the most wondrous gift really."

It also looks like a gift that keeps on giving. Just last month, J.K. attended an IMAX fan event where she dropped some big news on the franchise. While some originally though it was going to be a trilogy, the author announced that it's now going to be five films.

Did we mention these films mark J.K.'s first foray into screenwriting?

Additionally, she is also one of the producers of the film. In other words, is there anything the best-selling author can't do?
