Rose McGowan is speaking out in the wake of the hashtag #WhyWomenDontReport taking over the Twittersphere.

The 43-year-old actress opened up about a past experience where she was sexually assaulted and even supported Amber Tamblyn for penning her powerful story earlier this week.

"When no one else in Hollywood would listen, you heard. When no one else in Hollywood would do, you acted," Rose tweeted as a response to film producer Cassian Elwes.

She continued, "A (female) criminal attorney said because I'd done a sex scene in a film I would never win against the studio head #WhyWomenDontReport…because it's been an open secret in Hollywood/Media & they shamed me while adulating my rapist #WhyWomenDontReport.

"Because my ex sold our movie to my rapist for distribution #WhyWomenDontReport."

After several fans and followers tweeted their gratitude for her speaking up, Rose tweeted, "It is time for some goddamned honesty in this world."

She also shared Amber's article in Glamour magazine before writing, "Brilliant writing from my friend @AmberTamblyn."

In the article, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star wrote about misogyny and why she felt compelled to share her past abuse story ahead of the second presidential debate.

"If you're a woman in America there's a 10 in 10 chance you've experienced it—whether you recognize it or not, whether you're ready to admit it or not. It's a culture that talks down to you," she wrote.

"[Misogyny] thrives in our country on a cellular level, right in front of our faces. It exists like goose bumps exist, like premonitions are felt, like earthquakes are predicted."
