While some of the Keating 5 have turned to booze and dating apps to try to get back to some semblance of a normal life on How to Get Away With Murder, Wes (Alfred Enoch) has thrown himself into a new relationship with med student Meggy (Corbin Reid).

She seems sweet—and even has a girl-next-door name to boot—but everyone on this show has an ulterior motive. Should we trust her? Should we like her?

Creator Pete Nowalk puts that decision in the viewers' hands. "That's up for you to decide. I think she is a breath of fresh air for Wes! She's no Rebecca. She's not dark and broody," he tells E! News. But things are definitely still complicated, considering Wes' close relationship with Laurel (Karla Souza).

"I think there might be something still there with Laurel," Nowalk teases, "but I think he's trying to do what Annalise said, which is to try to be normal."

Souza says that Laurel knows exactly how she feels about Meggy. Does she like her? "No. Definitely not," Souza says. "I think she's lovely, but I think that [Laurel is] pretending that she approves but she hates her for sure."

Her hatred of Meggy certainly stems from Laurel's  increasingly tangled relationship with Wes. "I think they're like brother and sister in a weird, messed-up way," Souza says. "It's sort of like incest in some weird, dysfunctional family way and I think that's interesting."

Ultimately, however, the verdict on Meggy is still out. Warns Nowalk, "We don't know if she's normal! He hasn't had the best taste in the past."

How to Get Away With Murder airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
