Billy Bush is facing consequences after a lewd conversation with Donald Trump surfaced.

In an internal e-mail addressed to the "TODAY family," an announcement was made confirming the co-host will not be on the morning show this coming Monday.

"I know we've been deeply troubled by the revelations of the past 48 hours," the e-mail stated. "Let me be clear—there is simply no excuse for Billy's language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter."

A return date has not been announced or determined.

The announcement comes two days after the Washington Post obtained footage from 2005, which included audio of Billy and Donald using vulgar language while discussing women during a ride on an Access Hollywood bus to the set of Days of Our Lives.

The two were talking on hot microphones before they taped a segment about Donald's appearance on the famous soap opera.

Since the footage was leaked, Billy has apologized for his behavior in the conversation.

"Obviously I'm embarrassed and ashamed. It's no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago—I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I'm very sorry," he said in a statement obtained by E! News.

Donald also released a statement and posted a video message on his social media Friday evening.

"This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course—not even close," he shared. "I apologize if anyone was offended."
