Iris West has no hard feelings towards Barry Allen for completely changing the course of her life in The Flash's second season finale. At least that's what star Candice Patton thinks her character would feel if she knew what her BFF planned to do after they finally shared a long-awaited romantic moment—and Barry (Grant Gustin) promptly traveled back in time, saved his mother from being murdered and, in turn, changed the timeline so that Barry and Iris were pseudo-strangers instead of pseudo-siblings.

"I honestly think with everything we've seen of Iris, with everything that I believe about Iris, she's been nothing but supportive and loyal to Barry since the moment we've met her," Patton tells E! News ahead of the season three premiere. "And I think if anyone understands him and his heart, she does. It would've been hard for her, but I definitely think she would've supported his decision. And she kind of, without even knowing it, said something to that effect."

After the duo shared a kiss, Iris told Barry, "No matter where you have to go, whatever you have to do, do it. I'll be here when you get back," Patton reminds us—although she didn't know that Barry was about to go back in time. "She was giving support without even knowing."

Barry was incredibly broken in that moment. "I think he was just in a place—he was so sad and heartbroken, watching his father be murdered by Zoom and then the long trauma of not having his mother in his life because of Reverse Flash—I just think he did the best he could in that moment, unfortunately," Patton says.

But that doesn't mean there's no hope for Barry and Iris to finally be together. There are still plenty of sparks between them in "Flashpoint," the season three premiere, despite the fact that in this timeline, Barry and Iris don't really know each other.

"I love this episode so much. It reminds me, in a way, of the magic of the pilot," Patton confesses. "Iris is a big part of Flashpoint, which is really cool. She's still a reporter, she's still very much the Iris that we know and love, but she's also Wally West's helper in being the Flash. In juxtaposition to season one where she knew nothing about the Flash and was left out, in this timeline, in Flashpoint, she's very much a part of the mix which is really, really cool."

Despite the fact that Flashpoint Iris and Barry don't really know each other, you'll see the pair interact—and there will be history there. "You see them meet for the first time and Barry's trying to get up the nerve to talk to her," Patton teases. "And you see them immediately have the connection that we see them have in every timeline and on every Earth, which is really, really nice."

The Flash season three premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW.
