Kristen Bell has played a princess, a private investigator and pretty much everything in between, so it's no wonder plenty of young women look up to her.
The actress wants to set a good example offscreen, too, for daughters Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 21 months. That's why, as Kristen told E! News' Erin Lim at the Alliance of Moms third annual Raising Baby event, volunteering and giving back to the community are two things that are very important to her.
"When I had babies, I realized how lucky I was to have a support system of moms around me that knew things that I didn't," she explained. "I knew that 75 percent of foster care girls will be pregnant by the age of 21—and I felt like as a mom, who went on that learning experience, I should be there for other women in my community."

"I was lucky enough to know some women who put this into action through Alliance of Moms, and I now volunteer with them whenever I can," Kristen said. "I really want my kids to see the value of community and know that if we unify and support each other, it just makes everything better."
Kristen herself has appreciated advise she's gotten from fellow moms, too. One of the best things she's learned? "Well, when I had my second child, I was told when you bring the baby home from the hospital, always pick up the older one first if they're crying," she said. This "was a very nice piece of practical advice," she noted, "to make sure that my older one didn't feel neglected."
Hubby Dax Shepard is outnumbered 3-1 at home, but Kristen doesn't feel too bad for him. "He says that he always dreamed and knew he would have some sort of a harem," she quipped. "But he just imagined he would be having a lot more sex!"
So is that happening for Dax? Watch the clip above to find out.
