The Brangelina divorce drama doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon.
E! News has learned new details about the private plane incident that resulted in Brad Pitt being questioned by the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles.
A source tells E! News the incident, which allegedly took place on Sept. 14, "was a parent/child argument." A different source previously told E! News that the verbal altercation was the kind of disagreement "that sometimes occur(s) between teenage boys and their father."
(Brad and Angelina Jolie have one teenage son—Maddox, 15. Their second eldest son, Pax, turns 13 in November. They are also parents to 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.)
Both sources confirmed to E! News that no abuse took place. "There was no punching, and there was no inappropriate contact," says one insider. "This was a very normal family argument."
According to court documents obtained by E! News, Angelina separated from Brad one day after the incident (Sept. 15) and filed for divorce on Sept. 19. Despite previous reports, law enforcement sources tell NBC News that the investigation is being looked into by only DCFS and not the FBI or LAPD as some outlets have claimed.
Brad is "very upset" by the situation, says one insider. "He just wanted to protect his children from all of this. He's a very good father."
The World War Z star also "wants to have some custody" of the kids, says a source. (Angelina previously requested sole physical custody allowing only visitation rights for Brad.) Brad has not seen any of the children since Angelina's filing, but "he's not fighting that," says a source.
"He's trying to do what's best for everyone," a source says. "He would like all this to be worked out privately. The last thing he wanted was this to become so public."
As one source told E! News previously, both Brad and Angelina "love the kids more than anything else in the world" and truly want what's best for them.
"Brad and Angelina are both level headed and intelligent and in agreement that they want to work this out amicably and with the children in mind," a source told E! News. "They are talking. They are trying to work this out."
