After a summer of shakeups, Saturday Night Live has finally announced its first season 42 host!
Margot Robbie, who starred as Harley Quinn in this summer's Suicide Squad, will take on hosting duties next weekend, and will be joined by musical guest The Weeknd.
This will be Robbie's first time hosting, and The Weeknd's second go at musical guest. He previously performed on Amy Schumer's episode last year, and just announced the release of his new album, Starboy, which comes out November 25.
The cast and writing staff of SNL went through quite a few changes this summer.
Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam were both let go after six seasons in order to pursue their Showtime pilots, and Jon Rudnitsky also exited. Leslie Jones and Pete Davidson were both promoted to primary cast members, and new cast members Mikey Day, Alex Moffat, and Melissa Villaseñor will all make their debuts as featured players in the premiere episode.
The writing staff has also seen some big shake ups, including the promotion of Sarah Schneider and Chris Kelly to co-head writers. Seven new writers were also added to the staff, including the popular (and hilarious) sketch duo BriTANick (Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney), along with Zack Bornstein (Jimmy Kimmel Live), Joanna Bradley, Anna Drezen, and Kristen Bartlett (all from UCB), and comedian Julio Torres.
Season 42 of Saturday Night Live premieres Saturday, Oct. 1 at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBC Universal family.)
