As if the divorce news alone isn't bad enough for him, Brad Pitt will soon begin a press tour ahead of the November release date for his film Allied

The 52-year-old actor will face double the headlines as he promotes the movie—in which, by the way, he stars alongside Marion Cotillard, the woman many tabloids have pinned to Pitt in an alleged affair amid Angelina Jolie filing for divorce.

So yes, to say the tour is bound to be a bit uncomfortable is an understatement...but Pitt isn't the first celebrity to deal with this. Let's take a look back at 8 other stars who carefully navigated press tours following their highly-publicized splits:

Tom Cruise: Just a few months after the news of his divorce from Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise had to promote his film Jack Reacher in 2012. Though he maintained a low-profile while finishing up filming Oblivion when the news broke, he couldn't hide for long. He was forced to walk his first post-split red carpet in December 2012. He did his best to stay out of the headlines surrounding his divorce and didn't talk about it until 10 months later.

Gwen Stefani: Following the heartbreaking news about her split from Gavin Rossdale in August 2015, the No Doubt singer had to promote her time as a coach on The Voice. As is this case with any interview, she couldn't evade a question about her personal life.

When Matt Lauer asked about the split on The Today Show just two months later, rather than getting upset, Stefani used the opportunity to promote her new music at the time. "What I'll say about that is that I've never put a record out where I'm actually going through things in real time...I wrote that song like a couple weeks ago," she said.

Ben Affleck: The Batman V. Superman star had to head down to Comic Con just a week after his divorce from Jennifer Garner. Though he didn't speak at all about the split, his appearance said it all: he looked sad and tired, and he wore his wedding ring the whole time.

Nicole Kidman: The red-headed actress announced her divorce from Tom Cruise right before she began promoting her 2001 film, Moulin Rouge. But instead of running from questions about her personal life, she decided to address them, understanding she probably would never be able to avoid them.

"It's surreal," Kidman told Time magazine. "There are two kids involved, and the press is not the place to play it out. I could have said, 'I'm not doing any press for this film. See ya later. I'm not coming out until I am completely healed.' But I don't know if that will ever happen."

Julianne Hough: The actress and dancer split from Ryan Seacrest in March 2013 after dating for two years and subsequently had to continue doing some press following the release of her film Safe Haven the month before. She, too, remained mum on the subject and only opened up about it nearly a year later, letting the media frenzy calm down.

"I'm a relationship girl, and I feel so grateful for the ones I've been in," she said in the March 2014 issue of Self. "They've been excellent—I've been hurt but never angry—and they've helped me grow to be who I am today. But my goal has been to be single for an entire year."

Lady Gaga: Just a few weeks after her split from Taylor Kinney earlier this summer, Lady Gaga began promotion for her upcoming album Joanne.

When she released the first single off the album "Perfect Illusion" (which is about a love that isn't real), Mother Monster faced questions as to whether the new music was about her ex. But instead of denying any question, Gaga was perfectly honest.

"It's sort of the elephant in the room about 'Perfect Illusion': Like, 'Is it about Taylor?' is what everyone's wondering," Gaga said in an interview. "I just want to say...I love Taylor so, so much, and this song is not a hit out against Taylor. He's my best friend...I would never use my song or want to use the public to hurt anyone that I love so much."

Demi Lovato: The singer kicked off her joint tour with Nick Jonas within a few weeks of announcing her split from Wilmer Valderrama. The couple split on June 3 and Lovato hit the stage for the first time on June 29 in Atlanta.

Making sure never to mention him or the breakup specifically, Lovato prevented media from asking probing questions with a very broad, positive and practiced answer. "I feel really amazing. I feel really great and I'm growing" she said in an interview a month after the split. "My life is just really, really exciting for me because I'm growing. It's new and fresh, and I feel free."

Miley Cyrus: Miley Cyrus called of her engagement to Liam Hemsworth right in the midst of her promotional tour for her Bangerz album in 2013. She stayed mum on the subject for a few weeks—mostly letting her nudity and wild Instagram photos do the talking—until she sat down with Ellen DeGeneres a month later.

She said it wasn't "awkward" talking about her breakup "because I'm living it."

She continued, "I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now," she explained. "I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."
