Kiefer Sutherland is going from saving the country to running it for ABC's Designated Survivor. He's hanging up his Jack Bauer gun and comfortable running clothes for some presidential duds when his character, Tom Kirkman, becomes the president of the United States following an attack during a State of the Union address that wipes out the country's leadership.

"I kind of look at it as I've just gotten older. It's a demotion if you will," he joked with E! News. "A couple of friends of mine that worked on the pilot made more than a few jokes that I've finally gotten old enough to play the president."

Sutherland admitted the character appealed to him, but it was really the script for Designated Survivor as whole that got his attention. "When I first took a look at the script, the story was something I wanted to be a part of telling so I couldn't be more thrilled about the opportunity," Sutherland said.

But what would a Sutherland presidency look like and what does it have to do with George Clooney? Your answers are in the video up top.
