The public figure sat down with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night to dish on Beyoncé, sleepovers at Buckingham Palace and her love of french fries. While all of the topics provided fascinating insight into America's first family, the most unforgettable moment came when the first lady decided to share her impression of President Barack Obama, who she's been married to since 1992.
"All three of us have good impressions of Barack," she told Colbert, referencing their two daughters, Sasha and Malia. "It's usually at the dinner table. Malia will start it because she usually asks the serious question."
Then, Michelle launched into her impersonation, mimicking the president as he would answer his daughter's question about a daily event. Meanwhile, Michelle and Sasha are zoning out. "Sasha and I want to talk about our favorite song on the Lemonade album," she joked.
While being a member of the First Family is a trying task, it also comes with its perks—like hanging out with a "***Flawless" woman. "[Beyoncé's] a sweetheart. She's smart, she's creative, she's a great mother, she loves her family. She's just a low-key lady. We have a lot in common in that way...except I can't sing. I can't dance."
Another perk of being the president's right-hand lady is being able to spend the night at Buckingham Palace, which Michelle experienced as the palace's guest during the couple's first state visit to England. After eight years in the White House, she considers the trip a standout memory.
"I do remember ordering French fries at the palace," she recalled for Colbert. "I am a big french fry fanatic."
These days, she's just as focused on her children packing up their bedrooms to move out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. "If you don't pack it, I'm throwing it out," she warned.
While Colbert joked any items left behind would most likely pop up on eBay, Michelle did comment on another recycled subject—Melania Trump's convention speech, which many claimed had been ripped from the first lady's 2008 remarks.
"Yeah, that was tough," Michelle quipped. Is that sarcasm we hear?
