The WB/Scott Humbert Netflix knows a lot about you. The streaming service knows how you're going to binge watch and now they know the episode that gets you fully hooked on a show.
Netflix looked at the global viewing of 30 shows and pinpointed the specific episode in the first season that took viewers from casually watching to loving. For the new breakout hit Stranger Things, Barb played a role. Yeah, the second episode, the one where (spoiler alert!) Barb disappears, was the one that hooked viewers. For docu-series Making a Murderer it was the fourth episode featuring Brendan Dassey's confession.
"We've always believed there is a universality to great stories. The Internet allows us to share these stories with a global audience and what we see from the data is how similar our members watch and respond," Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, said in a statement. "The hooked findings give us confidence that there is an appetite for original and unique content all over the world, which is why we're excited to deliver variety in stories to our members, whether they're political dramas from France or musical dramas from the Bronx."

Jessica Jones, episode four: Jessica attempted to find out who was spying on her on behalf of Kilgrave.
The 100, episode two: Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia, Finn and Monty went looking for Jasper.
The Fall, episode two: Paul Spector's murder spree continued and he hid evidence in his daughter's bedroom and investigator Stella Gibson got a little reckless.
The Good Wife, episode six: Alicia paid Peter a conjugal visit in an attempt to get information from him for a client convicted during his time as state's attorney.
Netflix pulled this data from member accounts that started watching the first season of a specific series from January 2015 to August 2016 for several territories and January-August 2016 for newly added ones. They defined a hooked episode when 70 percent of viewers who watched that episode when onto to complete season one of the same show. The hooked episodes were first identified by country and then averaged to create the global hooked episode. There is no correlation to total viewership numbers or season attrition.
