The skivvies you choose to wear effects your daily and professional life so much more than you know (it's been proven, you guys). There are six styles in particular—thongs, g-strings, French-cut, boyshorts, bikini and briefs—your drawers should be stocked with at all times, for reasons you're about to find out (thanks to a really cool expert).

And let's get real: You're not really #adulting until you do—here's why.

"No one really knows what you're wearing "under there," but I promise, if your panty fits great, looks great and makes you feel sexy, you can literally take on the world," noted Jessica Pfister, Vice President of celeb-loved lingerie brand Le Mystère. "You're more confident because you know you don't have to worry about how you look in your clothes. You've already got that covered!"

"The proper panty will smooth your lumps and bumps and leave you looking flawless," continued the pro. "With no unsightly VPL, it'll let you focus on your day and let other people focus on you, not your panty problems! There truly is nothing worse than a pair of underwear that just won't stay in place."

With that said, let's meet the undies.

G-String

"[G-strings] are for your skimpiest, tightest dresses, pants and skirts," claimed the expert. "They're the closest to going commando, without the fear of a wardrobe malfunction. Keep one of these on hand for your special-occasion outfits." You get the confidence of an undergarment without any telltale signs—wearable from the office to the gym.

Thong

Thongs are worry-free until this happens..."Please make sure to wear a smooth thong with minimal or extremely flat elastics for the smoothest look under your tightest pants," said the underwear guru. "No matter how smooth a bikini is, they roll under pressure and leave unsightly lines. Everyone will know what you're wearing under there and, therefore, you're not going to feel your best."

Bikini

"This is your everyday, essential panty. File them under your standard uniform," voiced the expert. "They keep you covered, contained and smooth. If you want a little extra shape, find a bikini with ruching on the back. It helps to give your tush a cute shape. And since they typically sit a few inches under your natural waist, they're perfect for everything in your closet (including low-rise jeans)."

Briefs

Pfister advised, "if you're wearing a form-fitting dress, where you may want a little extra support on your stomach, these are the best and comfiest panties to wear." When sporting anything remotely bodycon, these are confidence-boosters to say the least.

Boyshort

"These can have the same "no show" effect as a thong, depending on the fabrication, but they give you the option of more coverage," noted the VP. It's definitely a cheekier option, but if you're a firm non-thong-believer this is the way to go.

French-Cut

"Oolala! These are for an in-between bikini and brief coverage that shows a little leg," said the pro. "They have an awesome '90s look to them and are great for comfort around your leg—they don't restrict movement." So have these sophisticated undies handy when you're looking for an elevated under-there look.
