Even though Chris Pratt won our hearts in Parks & Recreation and then made us swoon in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, it's safe to say he found success later in life. At least, later compared to many other celebrities who found fame at a younger age. Despite struggling for a while, Pratt told Stephen Colbert Monday that he's happy it came for him later on.

"[Fame] messes with you regardless probably. I feel bad for kids who get famous really young," Pratt said on The Late Show. "It's important to make your mistakes in relative obscurity so you can say, 'Wow shouldn't have done that. I'm going to distance myself. Move on. Become a better person.' You can really be defined by the mistakes you make."

But the Passengers star also happened to be in the unique position of being married to Anna Faris, who happened to be a movie star while he was still an up-and-coming actor.

"We've been together about nine years, but no one really knew who I was and she was a big movie star and people knew her. It was nice for me to see how people treated her that were in her life," he explained. "That was a good lesson for me coming into this the last couple years of my life because you start to realize you that you can be surrounded by people that are going to be deferential and 'yes men.' It taught me some important lessons."

He continued, "I was able to see that you have to nurture the relationships with the people who will call you on your bulls--t and the people who would have you over to dinner if I were still a coupon salesman or a waiter or struggling actor."

Pratt has always said his wife and son Jack Pratt are the two most important things in his life, which is why he adorably gushes about them all the time. He even brought his son to the set of The Magnificent Seven, where he was able to meet the rest of his dad's co-stars.

"My son was fully on set," Pratt told E! News. "He was playing with the horses, the cowboys, all the stunt team were really nice to him. He was sitting on Antoine's lap the whole day. I have some great photos of him on the set, very iconic [photos]. He got his own cowboy hat!"

Making Jack happy is what it's all about, Pratt said. "We got to have some really nice moments together and make some lifelong memories...And on top of it there's a really good movie that everyone gets to enjoy. Two hours of rock solid explosive entertainment. It's a throwback and I think people are going to like it."
