Life as a new mom doesn't sound exactly like a walk in the park for Emmy-nominated Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper.
"It's life-changing," the actress, who gave birth to her first son in early August, told told E!'s Giuliana Rancic on the 2016 Emmys red carpet. "No sleep and lots of milk."
While her character in the hit Netflix series, which is nominated for best comedy tonight, probably isn't going to be ready for kids any time soon, Kemper opened up about what kind of mom Kimmy might be.
"I think she would be a very optimistic, tenacious mom. I think she would endure those sleepless nights much better than I have," Kemper said. "She would take it and keep going. She takes everything ten seconds at a time. I think she would do well on the two-hour sleep system."
Kemper, who is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy tonight, also opened up about what kinds of life lessons people could take from a character like Kimmy, who remains incredibly positive despite having spent most of her life in a bunker with Jon Hamm.
"I really do think there's some profound wisdom in her mantra, which is to take things ten seconds at a time," she says. "It's a manageable amount of time that allows you to navigate those tough moments without feeling like you're giving up. That's deceptively profound."
