Real Housewives of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice's Book Signing Just Became One Heck of an Awkward Family Reunion

Well, that was awkward.

Of course, we're referring to Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pierri's decision to ambush their cousin Teresa Giudice at her book signing on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. If there's anything we've learned about Tre in all these years we've been watching her, it's that she hates feeling ambushed. You'd think her own family would understand that, too.

Although, we guess if you want to be on camera with a person who refuses to even answer your texts, ambush might be your only option.

It's hard to tell who's telling the truth here. After they surprise her and say they want to spend time with her and move forward, Teresa admits, "My cousins never reached out to me while I was away. They said nasty things about me...Sorry if I'm not dying to go out to lunch with family members who stab me in the back." But would they have even known how to reach out to her if she wouldn't communicate with them? She didn't even let Melissa Gorga come and visit her when she was locked up, and that's her new BFF.

The underlying subtext of Teresa and Kathy's relationship since the latter joined the show in season three is that Tre felt as though her turf had been invaded with the intention of airing her dirty laundry on national television. It's shaded how Tre's treated Kathy and Rosie ever since. While it makes sense that she would use the excuse of wanting to focus on Joe and the kids before he goes away, we've got a feeling this long-simmering resentment is the main reason why she wants nothing to do with her cousins.

While the preview for next week makes it pretty clear that Kathy and Rosie get their lunch, we're not holding our breath that it'll go at all how they hope. And if they were wise, they wouldn't either.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
