Like many Angelenos, Katy Perry just can't get on board with the tedious drive to Malibu.

And now that Orlando Bloom is her boyfriend, the "Rise" songstress has most likely faced her fair share of traffic on Pacific Coast Highway, an aspect of dating the actor she's quick to lament over.

Speaking to Women's Wear Daily, Perry dished, "My boyfriend lives in Malibu and getting used to that [drive] was like, ‘Are you kidding me? What kind of life is this?'"

A native of the nearby beachfront city Santa Barbara, Calif., the 31-year-old continued, "There's no pop-over and I never really got used to Malibu ‘cause it's halfway to Santa Barbara, so I'm always just going to Santa Barbara then. I get the whole coming to L.A. and living by the beach thing. But it's really like, it's so far, nobody [who lives in town] is going to come see you."

The pair appear to have struck a balance when it comes to visiting each other though, with Perry revealing that Bloom has visited her hometown before.

"I still spend a lot of time there because I grew up there," Katy said, later adding, "I grew up in the poorest part of Santa Barbara... Actually my boyfriend didn't even believe me and I was like, ‘I'm going to drive you by my house' and you can Google Earth it. I basically had a crazy church-filled, God squad upbringing. I lived on food stamps and food bank in Santa Barbara, which is like a crazy juxtaposition to live in beauty and still have a bit of a struggle, but that's just because of the nature of the church."

But as for how their relationship is progressing eight months after they initially sparked romance rumors, it's not as if Katy's trek to Malibu is a total deal breaker. In fact, a source told E! News the lovebirds have discussed marriage and children, adding, "They are in love and happier than ever. [Orlando] would like to get engaged to [Katy] before the year is up."

Our insider also told us, "[Marriage and children] is something Katy has always wanted when she met the man she was ready to settle down with."
