Already missing Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah on SNL this season? So is Pete Davidson.
"It sucks," Davidson told Erin Lim when E! News caught up with the comedian before the Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe. "They're good people. I worked with them for two years, they're friends, and they're the best impressionists, as well."
Many people were shocked when it was announced that the two stars, who had been with the show for six years, were departing. Once Showtime announced later that week that both comedians were starring in comedy pilots, it made much more sense that SNL let them go. But Davidson definitely isn't worried about how Pharoah and Killam will fare.
"We're going to miss them, but they'll be fine no matter what they do," Pete says. "They're hilarious."
The big question is more about how SNL will fare without two of its biggest players. No new hires have been announced yet, and Davidson says that if there are any new hires, he hasn't met them yet.
Davidson's fellow SNL star Leslie Jones has also had quite the summer, which included highs like starring in the new Ghostbusters and helping NBC with its Rio Olympics coverage, and lows like dealing with awful Twitter hate and having her website hacked.
While Pete says he hasn't yet talked to his costar, he and the rest of the cast are fully behind her.
"She's been kind of keeping to herself as you can imagine, but we are all supporting her," he says. "It's a terrible thing that happened, but she's strong and hilarious, and she'll be fine."
Season 42 of Saturday Night Live premieres Saturday, October 1 at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBC Universal family.)
