We'd like to think we've seen and heard it all, but then someone comes along with a bit of information that stops us dead in our tracks.
That someone? None other than Britney Spears. That information? She wants to collaborate with Justin Timberlake.
We know what you're thinking. Why would the pop sensation ever want to reunite with the same guy who wrote scathing breakup ballad "Cry Me A River" about her? As it turns out, Spears harbors no hard feelings against Timberlake and actually thinks he's pretty talented. Let us explain.
When asked who her dream collaborators would be during a fan Q&A for Most Requested Live with Romeo, the "Make Me" songstress rattled off quite a few impressive artists.
"Aerosmith seems really good and bright. He's a genius I think. He's very rock n' roll. He sings from his soul. Gwen Stefani, I think she's great," Spears says.
And then she adds (drumroll, please), "Justin Timberlake is very good." Let the nostalgia-driven fantasies about these former flames ever hitting the studio together ignite.
But until that magical moment comes true, all eyes will be on Brit Brit as she gears up to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards for the first time in a decade later this evening. Of her pending performance she admitted, "I think there's something in the air with the VMAs. It's like electric. I can't really explain it."
The 34-year-old continued, "Every time I've performed there it's always been one of those really big, nerve-racking experiences and the people that come, those celebrities, are so much fun and different... I still get very nervous."
