James Corden and John Krasinski Reveal Unseen Footage of Their Roles in A Few Good Men, Pulp Fiction and More

The actors have a lengthy history of working together, but they were fired from all of their joint projects

Before there was Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, Samuel Jackson and John Travolta, Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise—there was James Corden and John Krasinski.

According to a newly surfaced documentary starring the two comics, James and John have a history of making movies together and then getting booted from their roles. 

"Not a lot of people know this—we've worked together a lot," Corden told the crowd on The Late Late Show Wednesday night. "For one reason or another, it just hasn't worked out and, in fact, we worked together so many times a couple of years ago, they actually made a short documentary about how hard of a time we as a pair had had."

Unfortunately, what was about to ensue was just a spoof, albeit hilarious. The actors laid out a very convincing history of iconic roles they landed, only for them to be pulled out from under them at the last minute. 

"We've had the opportunity together to star in some of the greatest motion pictures in history," Corden explained. "Bizarrely, we've also been fired from every single one of them," Krasinski quipped.

Roll the tape! That list allegedly included A Few Good Men and Gone With the Wind. However, after Krasinski (in the role of Rhett Butler) and Corden (in the role of Scarlett O'Hara) improvised with a pair of aviator sunglasses, a mic drop and a slap fight finale, they were booted from the iconic roles.

"Gone with the Wind-more like gone with three hours of my life," Corden retorted. 

Fortunately, it did pave the way for an opportunity 55 years down the line—boy, they have not aged! 

"If we'd have done Gone With the Wind, Quentin Tarantino would never have considered us for Pulp Fiction," James explained. However, the duo was still no fit. "That's not the first part I've lost to Samuel Jackson. I doubt it will be the last."

 

Their final shot at dual stardom came in 2014 with the movie musical Into the Woods. While Corden did land the role of The Baker, John got the boot—in exchange for his wife, Emily Blunt. 

"You're married to Emily Blunt right? Can we get her number? She'd be perfect for this," the directors can be heard saying. 

 As James noted, "Sadly all great partnerships—they come to an end." Still, we can't stop wondering just what might have been with this dynamic duo.
