The LAPD confirmed to E! News that a domestic incident report involving the two was filed Wednesday, which TMZ said occurred after Diddy and Cassie had a heated argument while in a car in Beverly Hills. According to the outlet, the rapper took Cassie's phone before returning it to her later that day. Authorities were then called to the R&B singer's home, where the report was taken.
As speculation mounted that Diddy, 46, took his longtime girlfriend's phone over suspicion that she was cheating on him, a source debunks the notion, telling E! News, "Cassie would never cheat on Diddy, though. She just wishes things were better with them. It's always up and down."
Instead, the couple has decided to take a break from their relationship, a turn that the insider adds is not a first for the musical pairing.
"They are taking another break now. He loves her so much so likely it won't be a long break. He always finds a way of coming back to her," the source continued.
Cassie, 29, was initially signed to Diddy's Bad Boy Records back in the early 2000s, and after years of speculation that the duo's relationship had taken a turn for the romantic, Cassie and Diddy finally confirmed their exclusivity in 2012. They've openly denied engagement rumors on two different occasions, and have since maintained a relatively private union over the years.
Diddy is a father to six children, none of whom belong to his on-again, off-again beau.
