Well this is not news we wanted or expected: it sounds like Amy Schumer just canceled her own show.

Schumer spent much of Wednesday sounding off on Twitter over some controversy surrounding comments made by Kurt Metzger, one of the writers on her Comedy Central series, Inside Amy Schumer. After Metzger was called out for some hurtful comments he made about rape victims, Schumer tweeted that, "Kurt does not work for me. He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it. His words are not mine."

The responses to that tweet wondered if Schumer fired Metzger, and then Schumer seemingly announced that Inside Amy Schumer has been canceled by tweeting, "I didn't fire Kurt. He isn't a writer for my show because we aren't making the show anymore. There are no writers for it."

She also retweeted a fan's response, saying "You're the best, and we'll miss your show. And Twitter sucks sometimes."

Comedy Central has yet to respond to request for comment.

The network renewed Inside Amy back in January for a fifth season, and the fourth season finale aired in June.

Metzger is credited on 39 out of 40 episodes of the series, and many fans on the internet started calling for him to be fired when his comments came to light. In a strange Facebook post (which you can read here), he criticized rape victims for not going to the police, and compared evidence in a rape case to religion and the crucifixion of Jesus.

"I am saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger," Schumer tweeted this afternoon. "He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn't be more against his recent actions."

The other two tweets followed throughout the day. The only thing she has tweeted since seemingly announcing the end of her show is, "Goodnight," along with a picture of sleeping kittens. So it looks like we'll probably have to wait until tomorrow for Schumer to clarify her comments.
