Aurora Rose/REX/ShutterstockIt's no surprise that Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa have exemplified #relationshipgoals throughout their 20-year marriage, and now the actor opens up on how they make it work with their hectic and now distant schedules.
During the Fox panel for his new series Pitch at the 2016 TCAs, Consuelos told a group of reporters that the couple have been able to make their current bicoastal situation work mainly because their kids are a bit older now.
"It's easy. The kids are older now, the kids are older, no more changing diapers, there's no midnight feeding, so it's easy. In the past, maybe I wouldn't take a job so far away, but it's good. It's really, really good," he said.
While mama Ripa holds down the fort in New York City, Consuelos took his kids with him to Los Angeles! And it's been pretty cool so far.
"[My daughter] is 15, our oldest is 19, and we're like roommates," he said. "We're very much like roommates. She's awesome. We get to spend some quality time we wouldn't get to share otherwise, it's really nice. She loves Los Angeles. She wants to figure out a way to live here permanently. I told her there's UCLA, USC, and to look for that opportunity in a few years to get out here."
Pitch, which also stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Ali Larter, tells the story of Ginny Baker, the first female Major League Baseball player, and director Dan Fogelman says he believes this is something that could actually happen in coming years.
"I think this is going to happen in my lifetime," he said. "I think the right young woman is going to come along, I think it's going to happen sooner than later...When it happens, that young woman becomes the biggest story in the country overnight."
