New York City has a new defender: Luke Cage. The first full trailer for Marvel's Luke Cage is here, with just enough action to tide you over until the Friday, Sept. 30 premiere date. Viewers last saw Mike Colter's Luke Cage in Jessica Jones when he was under the control of Kilgrave (David Tennant). Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) had to shoot him to stop him from killing her. Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) came to their aide and nursed Luke Cage back to health. Now he's out of Hell's Kitchen and in Harlem, and Harlem sure needs him.

When his past comes back to haunt him, Luke, who has super strength and unbreakable skin, must fight for the heart of the city he loves.

The cast also includes House of Cards star Mahershala Ali as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe and Dawson as Claire Temple.

Marvel's Luke Cage is just the latest Marvel superhero TV series for Netflix. Daredevil and Jessica Jones predate it, with Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders, a team-up series with the individual heroes coming together. Jessica Jones will return for a second season and Daredevil has a third season in the works.

Luke Cage premieres Friday, Sept. 30 on Netflix.
