Gina Rodriguez is loving her new lighter locks.
The Jane the Virgin star, 32, recently went blonde after chopping a lot of her hair off for her work in the just-wrapped Alex Garland-directed sci-fi thriller Annihilation.
"But then I came home and I was playing a very serious character and I just kept seeing her in the mirror and I was like, 'I'm going to change this,' and I just did it," the Golden Globe winner told me last night at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Grants Gala at the Beverly Wilshire.
And it looks totally fab!
"I've always been afraid of change when it came to my existence in the industry," Rodriguez said, adding that she hadn't changed her hair much in 20 years. "But then when they took off all of my hair for Annihilation, I was like, 'We're doing this. A change is happening,' and it's a beautiful change."
So do blonds have more fun? "I have a lot of fun as a brunette and as a blond," Rodriguez said, smiling. "I always have fun."
Rodriguez will next be seen on the big screen in Deepwater Horizon, a drama about the largest oil spill in U.S. history caused by the explosion of an offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. The Peter Berg-directed film will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and stars Mark Wahlberg, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell and Dylan O'Brien.
