Scandal is recasting a pivotal character from season five—and you'll recognize who the show's bringing in to replace her.

Joelle Carter, who played Jake's wife in the fifth season of the ABC drama, won't be able to return to the series due to her commitment to NBC's latest Chicago Fire spin-off, Chicago Justice.

According to reports, Glee vet Jessalyn Gilsig is set to take Carter's place as Jake's new bride, Vanessa, in season six.

As you'll recall, Jake and Vanessa tied the knot after Rowan threatened to kill him if Olivia didn't force him to go through with the ceremony. So after Olivia delivered a devastating speech declaring Jake the lesser version of Fitz, Jake lived (yay!). Unfortunately, it meant that Jake now thinks Olivia is in love with Fitz (boo!).

Gilsig, who most recently starred on the History series Vikings, played the deceitful wife of Will Schuster on Glee and also costarred on Nip/Tuck and Heroes.

Will Kerry Washington's Pregnancy Be Written into Scandal Season 6?

Scandal's sixth season will debut at midseason on ABC (thanks to leading lady Kerry Washington's pregnancy), though the cast is already back at work filming.

As for whether the show will incorporate Washington's bump, she told E! News in May that she anticipated another season of big purses and gorgeous coats for Olivia Pope. "As far as I know, we're going to be hiding things," she told us at the Sag-Aftra Foundation Golf Classic. "But stay tuned!"

Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed their first child together, daughter Isabella, in April 2014.

NBC's Chicago Justice will also premiere in early 2017.
