Dunkirk focuses on World War II's biggest rescue operation, the 1940 evacuation of some 338,000 Allied troops from the shores of Northern France after they were surrounded by Adolf Hitler's invading Nazi forces.

The name of Styles' character and the amount of screen time he will get has not been revealed. Dunkirk also stars Tom Hardy, who appeared in Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises and InceptionCillian Murphy, who appeared in the latter film and in the director's movies Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Mark RylanceJames D'Arcy and Kenneth Branagh.
