Anton Yelchin's parents went public with their wrongful death lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler.

Viktor and Irina Yelchin were visibly emotional at times as Gary A. Dordick, the lawyer speaking on their behalf, formally announced and filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. local time. Per court documents obtained by E! News, the Star Trek actor's parents are seeking damages from auto manufacturer ZF North America and the AutoNation car retailer chain in addition to Fiat Chrysler (which makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee involved in Anton's fatal accident). The Yelchins also requested a trial by jury in the documents.

Per People, Anton's father Victor told reporters, "With unbelievable grief, we decided to come here to prevent other families with the same tragedy." He continued, "Anton was our only son—a remarkable human being. It's against nature when a parent has to bury their own child."

"We were always proud of him being the greatest human being, not for being a star," added Anton's mother.

Back in June, Anton was standing behind his car that was parked in his driveway. The vehicle began to roll backwards, pinning him against a brick mailbox and a security fence, a police spokesperson confirmed to E! News.

The Los Angeles county coroner later confirmed that the 27-year-old's death was ruled an accident by blunt traumatic asphyxia from the force of the car against his body.

His passing later sparked a class-action $5 million lawsuit from Jeep owners against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, citing a "defective' gearshift. Anton's vehicle was one of the 1.1 million listed in a massive recall by the FCA.

After Tuesday's press conference, the company released the following statement to E! News: "FCA US LLC extends its sympathies to the Yelchin family for their tragic loss. The Company has not been served with a lawsuit and cannot comment further at this time. FCA US urges customers to follow the instructions in their owners manuals and the information cards sent with their recall notices. These instructions include advising customers to set the parking brakes in their vehicles before exiting."

Speaking to the press Tuesday, the attorney for Anton's parents' said, "I think the Yelchin family is their biggest nightmare because they're not motivated by money. They can't be bought off. They want them punished, and they want to change the way they do business."
