Zac Efron has been a longtime crush for many, and although we've seen him experience a handful or so of relationships (let's have a moment for Zanessa), the truth of the matter is that this star just can't date.

At least, that's what he said during an interview with The Times.

Efron, who recently ended things with girlfriend Sami Miró, explained that when it comes to actual dating—meeting someone for the first time and getting to know them without any preconceived notions—that's just not something he's able to do because of who he is.

"Dating is something I'll never be able to do," he said. "As in the dictionary definition of dating, because one way or another I've impacted that person's life and they'll soon realize it."

According to the article, Efron says dating is about seeing somebody for the first time, which is impossible given his career. "A date has to be very long to dispel whatever people think about me." As for taking a swipe at Tinder, the hunky Hollywood star jokes, "Amazingly, when I signed up for Tinder, nobody swiped me! They thought it was fake...That never happened."

Something else that may surprise you is that Efron doesn't even have access to his social media. The star touched on his depression, which he felt was only heightened by the different public platforms, so he's made sure to stay far away.

"I lost my mind because of the Internet. I'd read 30 positive things and one bad thing, then I'd harbor that bad thing. It drove me crazy."

Instead, Efron is making sure to focus on his career, specifically making more of a move from comedy to drama, and says working with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has really left a mark on him.

"He wants to make an impact beyond acting. He could run for president. F--k it, he'd be better than anyone at this point...I'm realizing the value of film," he says.

"We have the ability to change the world with cinema. I love acting, I study it every night—Enter the Dragon, Se7en. It's been a struggle. From day one, I wanted to do authentic work. It wasn't about money. It wasn't about fame. It wasn't about Instagram."

Efron states, "I feel like I'm just unlocking right now. I'm just getting started."
