When you're in vacation mode, anything is fair game—especially for the rich and famous.

In between dips in a secluded infinity pool, lunch prepared by a Michelin star-rated chef and a personal masseuse on standby, nothing seems off-limits for stars on holiday. For some, an open schedule with Hollywood obligations on pause is an open door to indulgence. Cocktails by the cabana, desserts at sunset and forgetting their sneakers at home may be just what some celebrities had in mind while relaxing miles away from their Los Angeles or New York City abode.

Others thrive in the splendor of their everyday routines, happily committing to their diet and fitness throughout their days and nights in Maui, Monaco or Madrid.

Finally, much like Goldilocks, many famous names find the sweet spot between going full throttle at the gym and going overboard with the treats. No matter their preference, there's certainly no rule book—the world is their oyster and they can eat it, drink it and work it out however they please.

Drew Barrymore seems to stand by the old adage "When in Rome..." when she's taking time off. Whether she's in Japan or California, the actress can be spotted enjoying the culinary pleasures of her travels, including doughnuts at a Tokyo Krispy Creme or freshly made pasta in cooking classes alongside her celebrity friends.

The same goes for Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow. According to her social media, the cookbook author rarely misses the opportunity to taste the local fare in whichever city she happens upon, including her own homemade pasta in Rome.

"I really don't have any rules. I really believe in delicious food and enjoying life and not saying no to anything," she told Yahoo! in February. "At the same time, you know, I think it's important to understand what good nutrition does and make sure you maintain a balance. For me the big things are really processed food and foods that have tons of chemicals and pesticides. I try to stay away from that, but I love French fries and cheese and martinis and all that kind of thing."

Foodie Chrissy Teigen and her Grammy-winning husband John Legend often travel to the country of their wedding where pizza and pasta are consumed as frequently as water. The model and singer aren't ones to pass up a chance at tasting a native delicacy. "[Check mark] pizza in Naples #bucketlist" the FABLife co-host explained a photo of the two surrounded by four pizza pies.

Some celebrities supplement their daily itineraries with physical activities like hiking or horseback riding, disguising workouts with stunning scenery. Among those stars is Scream Queens' Lea Michele, who is fiercely committed to Soul Cycle when she's home. While enjoying girls' getaways with her best gals, she can be spotted horseback riding, swimming and hiking to get her heart pumping.

During a wellness retreat in Malibu, the actress wanted a challenge, so she signed up for a few days of advanced hiking trails. "The feeling on day one was like, 'I did iiiiit! I am the strongest person on the planeeeeet!'" she told Women's Health. "Day three or four was more like, 'I'm in pain. This is horrible. Dear god, just get to that bush. Get to the bush, then get to the rock. . .'"

Fuller House's Candace Cameron-Bure recently took a page out of her fellow television star's book. During a recent 20th anniversary trip with husband Valeri Bure, the fiercely fit View co-host and her beau hopped on a pair of horses to gallop by the beach—romantic and active.

For Kim Kardashian, taking a trip includes improvised workouts with whatever equipment is accessible. While vacationing in Iceland with her famous family, the mom of two remained dedicated to shedding her pregnancy weight regardless of what few gym tools were available at the time.

Katy Perry and beau Orlando Bloom proved burning the calories could be the perfect date when they hit the trail hand in hand during a Hawaiian vacation in February.

Celebrity BFFs Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King stuck to their Weight Watchers diets during their Christmas trip to Fiji by collecting those activity points with scenic hikes overlooking the coast.

"Fiji so gorgeous -background looks fake! Nuthin' fake 'bout this hike, lots of sweat and lots of activity points," the CBS This Morning co-anchor captioned a photo of the pair.

When Winfrey returned from vacation, she had some some personal news to report. "For the first time in the history of my adult life, since I was like 23, 24, I did not gain a pound during the holidays," she said.

Still, what would a vacation be without at least some lazy moments? Take a hint from Kate Hudson. While on a recent getaway in Ibiza, the Fabletics spokeswoman took in the picturesque views while lounging with a handful of ladies and lunch around her. Now, what could be better than that?

Well...double fisting with ice cream cones comes pretty close. Thanks Zac Efron for the vacation inspiration.
