Anton Yelchin's parents are planning to sue Fiat Chrysler and other companies after their son was killed in a car accident.

According to TMZ, who first broke the news, the Star Trek star's family wants punitive damages "for the wrongful death of their son due to significant defects" in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. His parents are reportedly going after Fiat Chrysler (which makes the Cherokee) along with manufacturer ZF North America and the AutoNation car retailer chain.

E! News can confirm that the lawsuit is set to be formally announced and filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. local time.

Back in June, the actor was standing behind his car that was parked in his driveway. The vehicle began to roll backwards, pinning him against a brick mailbox and a security fence, a police spokesperson confirmed to E! News.

The Los Angeles county coroner later confirmed that the 27-year-old's death was ruled an accident by blunt traumatic asphyxia from the force of the car against his body.

The passing later sparked a class-action $5 million lawsuit from Jeep owners against Grand Cherokee manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, claiming a "defective" gearshift has caused more than 300 deaths, including Anton, whose car was one of 1.1 million vehicles listed in a massive recall by FCA.

While the company has not been served with a new lawsuit as of Monday evening, they released a statement to E! News saying, "FCA US LLC extends its deepest sympathies to the Yelchin family for their tragic loss. The Company cannot comment at this time."

Just last month, Viktor Yelchin and Irina Yelchin took out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter to thank fans for their support during the difficult grieving process.

"Thank you to all of you who have sent flowers and gifts, for your condolences and kind words and to all who came to celebrate the life of our dear son, Anton," their message read. "We are deeply grateful for your unconditional love for [him]. He would be surprised at how many hearts and souls he touched. Thank you very much."
