It's finally happened: the corpse flower has responded to Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham). Sort of. The New York Botanical Garden has taken to Twitter on behalf of the blossoming Amorphophallus titanum to weigh in on the comments Lorelai made in the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life teaser.

In the spot, which was released by Netflix to announce the four-part event's premiere date, Lorelai asked daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) if Amy Schumer would like her. Rory said no, and Lorelai questioned her reasoning, saying, "It's not like I'm perpetually armed or at sundown I turn into one of those vampires with no sense of humor or I have that plant strapped to me that blooms once every 50 years and smells disgusting."

"What plant?" Rory asked.

"That plant. That plant people line up to see even though it smells like dead fish," Lorelai said, prompting Rory to look up the corpse flower (it blooms every decade, not every 50 years).

Then the corpse flower in New York Botanical Garden bloomed.

"Not saying the mention in the @GilmoreGirls trailer convinced our corpse flower to come out of its shell. Not NOT saying it, though," NYBG tweeted.

The Gilmore Girls teaser also called out Amy Schumer and John Oliver. They too have responded to Lorelai. Yes, John Oliver thinks she's hot and yes, Amy Schumer said she'd love her and explained she is not always doing water sports.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will feature four 90-minute episodes, each a different season in the year. Along with Bledel and Graham, returning faces include (but are not limited to), Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Melissa McCarthy, Matt Czuchry, Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, Keiko Agena and Sean Gunn.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres Friday, Nov. 25 on Netflix.
