Hindsight is 20/20—just ask Margot Robbie

The Suicide Squad actress sat down with Vanity Fair's Rich Cohen as the cover girl of the August issue. While the magazine declared this the "summer of Robbie," that's really where the compliments ended.

Cohen's complete profile immediately came under fire after it went live on the publication's website, critics taking aim at the author's confusing and controversial commentary about the star. He compared Robbie's looks to "a minor knock-around key, a blue mood, a slow dance" before subtly insulting Australians, saying the country is "a throwback, which is why you go there for throwback people."

"I remember thinking, I said, 'That was a really odd interview I don't know how that's gonna come out,'" Robbie told The Project. "Then when I read it, I was like, yeah, the tone of this is really weird, like I don't really know what he's trying to get at or play at."

While the 26-year-old actress initially kept mum about her encounter, her wide-reaching supporters immediately came to the rescue. "I didn't expect there to be like an uproar about it at all," she continued. Still, fans from her native Australia rushed to her digital side. "I had like this bit of Aussie pride where I was like, 'Don't mess with the Aussies."

Unfortunately, despite a very fast rise to stardom, the talented leading lady has already gotten used to being criticized on her performance, her looks and everything in between. 'I've read far more offensive, far more sexist, insulting, derogatory, disgusting things on a daily basis," she told The Project. "I don't know. Maybe I'm like desensistized to it now."
