In between struts on the catwalk, Kendall Jenner spared some time to play photographer for a very special model.
The professional poser and reality star tried her hand behind the camera in honor of LOVE's Autumn/Winter 2016 issue. Among the models featured in the ten page "American Beauty" spread was Kaia Gerber, supermodel Cindy Crawford's 14-year-old look-alike daughter. Jenner and Gerber teamed up to produce easy, breezy beauty shots of the up and coming model, at the request of the magazine's Editor in Chief Katie Grand.
"I'd liked some of her [Kendall Jenner's] Instagram posts where she had obviously 'composed' the images more thoughtfully than an average snap, so I asked her to take some pictures for the issue," Grand said. "She jumped at the chance, saying she wanted to photograph and style her friend Kaia Gerber."
With a six-year age difference between them, Kendall wanted the young up and coming fashion star as her model for her official photography debut.
"I picked Kaia because I think she's amazing and beautiful," Jenner told the magazine. "I've gotten to know her a bit and she really is such a great young girl with such a good head on her shoulders. You could say I'm a fan of hers, and I would love to see her succeed."
The photoshoot turned into a family affair as Crawford herself was responsible for styling her teenage daughter's natural hair and makeup. It was a hallmark moment for Jenner, who looked up to the 50-year-old stunner as an aspiring model herself.
"This for me was so cool because it really does come full circle: her mom was my idol; I'm shooting my idol's daughter," Jenner added. "I think she has a very bright future and for me to be able to say in the future 'I shot the young Kaia Gerber' will be so cool!" Jenner was so proud of the final product, she shared the shots with all of her fans on Snapchat.
According to Gerber, the warm feelings were mutual.
"Working with Kendall was effortless," she said. "It just felt like two friends hanging out, snapping a few photos at candid moments. Kendall told me that my mom is one of the people she looks up to most, and it's cool to see it come full circle because Kendall is a role model for me."
