Sweet Christmas! The latest entry to Marvel's TV empire, Luke Cage, finally dropped a trailer that has us asking one question: Is it September 30th yet?

Viewers last saw the character in Marvel's Jessica Jones where he fell under the control of Kilgrave (David Tennant) and attacked Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter). To stop him, she shot point-blank with a shotgun, but viewers know Luke Cage (Mike Colter) isn't just your typical bar owner and street vigilante: he's got superpowers, naturally. The character has super strength and unbreakable skin. With the help of Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Luke pulled through the trauma and took his leave when nobody was looking. Now he's in Harlem, trying to rebuild his life. However, his past comes knocking again and things don't stay so simple.

The trailer dropped shortly after the cast, alongside showrunner Cheo Coker, debuted the footage to hordes of fans at Comic Con. Coker previewed the series by saying, "The world is ready for a bulletproof black man." He gets no argument here.

Luke Cage stars Colter, Dawson, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Stokes, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Mahershala Ali as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, Theo Rossi as Shades and Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe. The series is the third in Marvel's planned Netflix suite of shows. Daredevil and Jessica Jones predate it with Iron Fist, Punisher and a team-up series, The Defenders, all in the works.

All 13 episodes of Marvel's Luke Cage premiere Friday, Sept. 30 on Netflix.
