Nickelodeon's Loud House is making history. E! News has confirmed Loud House, the network's new animated series, features the network's first same-sex married couple. The characters are voiced by Wayne Brady and Michael McDonald.

The series follows 11-year-old Lincoln and his chaotic life with 10 sisters. It was inspired by creator Chris Savino's life growing up in a big family. Lincoln's best pal, Clyde, has two dads. The two characters are featured in the clip below, which appropriately features Lincoln (Grant Palmer) declaring "Time to make history!" Sure it was about his sleepover, but you know how cartoons love a good wink to the audience.

The voice cast for Loud House also includes Caleel Harris as Clyde McBride, Catherine Taber as Lori, Liliana Mumy as Leni, Nika Futterman as Luna, Cristina Pucelli as Luan, Jessica DiCicco as Lynn and Lucy, Grey Griffin as Lola, Lana and Lily and Lara Jill Miller as Lisa.

Look for the episode to air on Wednesday, July 20 at 5 p.m. on Nickelodeon.

Gay characters on animated shows targeted to children are still relatively new. They're often hinted at, like in Legend of Korra, but not explicitly stated. Of course shows that transcend, like The Simpsons and South Park, have had LGBT characters for years. Take a look at the gallery below for more LGBT TV firsts.
