Getty ImagesFame is fleeting, and a lasting career in Hollywood is even harder to come by. These stars, however, have proven to be the exceptions: They're just as relevant today as they were 15 years ago!
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake both have top-selling singles on iTunes, Blink 182 and Good Charlotte both have new albums in the top 10, and just this morning, Gwen Stefani's Today performance was b-a-n-a-n-a-s. We're loving it, don't get us wrong, but is this 2001 or 2016?
It's a testament to all these stars' talent and hard work that they're still topping the charts after all these years. The majority of artists we voted for back on MTV's TRL fell off the radar a decade ago. Those who stuck around had their ups and downs, of course, but they continued to reinvent themselves and market themselves to their evolving audiences.
Beyoncé, for example, started this millennium as a world-famous member of Destiny's Child, and it goes without saying her star has continued to rise. She's not just a singer anymore, either: She's an all-out entertainer, actress and social activist, to boot. (Take that, Becky with the good hair.)
This all begs the question: Will the next generation of pop stars have longevity like their predecessors? We'll check in on Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus' numbers circa 2025 and let you know.
