Lea Michele and Former Glee Cast Mates Pay Tribute to Cory Monteith on the Third Anniversary of His Death

Chord Overstreet, Matthew Morrison and more remember the late actor three years later

It's hard to believe three years have gone by since Glee star Cory Monteith tragically passed away at only 31 years old. 

Largely remembered for his portrayal of musically inclined football star Finn Hudson on the Fox hit, Monteith was admired—both on and off camera—by fans, costars and family—and he remains very much missed.

To mark the day, a number of Monteith's co-stars, including former girlfriend Lea Michele, took to social media to pay tribute to the actor. 

We may not have gotten to share a lifetime together.. But the memories.. they're the best of my life.. Love you Cory??

Michele posted perhaps the most heartfelt remembrance of the star.

She wrote on Instagram, "We may not have gotten to share a lifetime together.. But the memories.. they're the best of my life.. Love you Cory ♥."

The Scream Queens star also recently paid homage to her lost love by tattooing the number 5 on her body—Finn's jersey number.

Other Glee stars, including Jenna Ushkowitz, Chord Overstreet, Heather Morris, Kevin McHale, Naya Rivera, and Matthew Morrison also celebrated Monteith's life on social media.

Both fellow costars and the public have united under the hashtag #3YearsWithoutCory to share their stories and pay reverence to the actor. Over 5,000 Instagram posts have been documented under this hashtag so far.

Three years ago my best friend wasabout to get married, I was 7 months pregnant and was delivered the news that Cory had passed I was weary to get too emotional in fear that I would go into labor too early. Not only was cory the most genuine, always the guy to stop and say hi to fans, but he made everyone around him laugh....obv this photo is proof. He was our family. We miss u bud. #3yearswithoutcory
