USAWe're going to have to wait a little bit longer to see USA's new series, Shooter.
E! News has confirmed that the network has decided to delay the premiere of the drama, whose title may give you some sense of what it's about, one week in the wake of the Dallas sniper attacks that left five police officers dead after a peaceful protest on July 7.
The show, which stars Ryan Phillippe and Omar Epps, is based on the book Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter and the 2007 film starring Mark Wahlberg. It follows a highly-decorated ex-marine sniper (Phillippe) who jumps back into action to stop a plot to kill the President, only to find himself involved in a disastrous operation with ties to his past. It was originally set to debut Tuesday, July 19.
"In light of recent tragic events and out of respect for the victims, their families and our viewers, we have decided to postpone the premiere date for the upcoming USA Network series Shooter to July 26," the network said in a statement.
Shooter joins a sadly long list of shows whose schedules have changed after tragedies, including TNT's The Last Ship, which delayed its season three premiere after the Orlando night club tragedy, and USA's Mr. Robot, which postponed its season one finale last year because it featured a scene similar to the deaths of a journalist and a cameraman in Virginia.
Shooter will now premiere Tuesday, July 26 at 10 p.m. on USA Network.
