Joe Perry is in stable condition after collapsing on stage during a Hollywood Vampires concert in New York Sunday. The guitarist was playing a set with band members Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp when he fell ill and stumbled off stage, according to audience members. Emergency services officials said an ambulance was called to The Amphitheater on the Coney Island Boardwalk at about 9:40 p.m. ET.

Kevin Phalon, who was in the audience, told NBC News the 65-year-old musician collapsed during the second song of the supergroup's set. "He sat down during the song and then walked off behind the drum set," Phalon said. "After that, you could see a whole bunch of backstage people run off to the left side of the stage."

The band soldiered on without Perry. According to Billboard, at one point Cooper told the audience, "If you notice one of our brothers is not onstage with us. He was very sick before the show."

Perry was taken to the hospital for evaluation, then transferred to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, the NYPD told the local ABC News affiliate. The band's post-show meet-and-greet was also canceled.

At 11:20 p.m. ET, the rock band gave fans an update on Perry's health via Twitter. "Joe Perry is stable and resting," a statement read. "His brother Vampires and fans wish him a speedy recovery." Twenty minutes later, Cooper tweeted a similar message, writing, "Thanks to everyone asking about our brother @JoePerry. He is stable right now, with family & is under the best care." A tweet was also sent from Perry's Twitter account at 12:03 a.m. PT, which read, "Thanks to all of the fans reaching out and asking about Joe. He is stable right now, with family and is under the best care."

Perry's Aerosmith bandmate, Steven Tyler, was performing a solo set in Vancouver Sunday and has yet to comment. The Hollywood Vampires are scheduled to make their first late-night appearance Monday on CBS' The Late Show With Stephen Colbert; it is unclear whether the performance will continue as planned. The rock band's next tour date is slated for Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio, Tuesday.
