Watch: Melissa McCarthy Says "Gilmore Girls" Return was "Dreamy"

Melissa McCarthy has big plans for Gilmore Girls. The Ghostbusters star got her start on The WB/CW drama and is returning to Stars Hollow as chef Sookie St. James for the Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Right now the revival is just four 90-minute installments, but McCarthy has big dreams.

"Seven hundred," she told E! News' Will Marfuggi when asked about how many episodes are involved. "There's only four movies, but I have written an additional 696 episodes. It's just kind of me and a voiceover..."

McCarthy will return alongside Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Liza Weil, Matt Czuchry, Milo Ventimiglia, Jared Padalecki and more famous Stars Hollow residents for the Netflix revival. If you've been following the revival, you know McCarthy's return almost didn't happen. At first creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said McCarthy was too busy. Then McCarthy said she wasn't asked. After a series of back and forths in the press and social media, McCarthy announced she would be heading to the set and filming once again as Sookie St. James.

"It was fantastic," she told us about her return to the show. "To be back there and be back in that world was pretty dreamy. It just felt like we hadn't been gone that long at all. It was really nice."

Next up for McCarthy is the Ghostbusters reboot. She stars alongside Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth in the flick directed by Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig.

Gilmore Girls' revival will premiere on Netflix this fall, while Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15.
