Did Ansel Elgort just deliver the song of the summer?

That's what many of his fans are asking after the 22-year-old-actor released "Home Alone" via SoundCloud at midnight Friday. The track serves as his vocal debut, which he wrote and produced himself. The song was released under his full name, rather than that of his musical alter ego, DJ Ansolo. "I'm so excited to begin this journey with you all," the Divergent actor tweeted after its release.

Elgort's fans are listening to his electronic entry on repeat. "DUDE THIS IS AWESOME!" one listener wrote on SoundCloud. Another fan admitted, "I wasn't expecting this to be that good."

"Home Alone" will be available on iTunes and Spotify July 22.

Whether Elgort's track will become the song of the summer is anyone's guess. Drake's "One Dance," featuring WizKid and Kyla, has been No. 1 five weeks, while other contenders include Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling!," Desiigner's "Panda," The Chainsmokers' "Don't Let Me Down" featuring Daya, and Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home," featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Which Role Makes Teens Scream the Most for Ansel Elgort?

Until Friday, all of Elgort's music had been released under his alias. "I just make whatever music I want," he once told Details of being part of the EDM scene. "It's my obsession, and it's very fulfilling."

Shailene Woodley—who, in addition to the Divergent franchise, co-starred with Elgort in The Fault in Our Stars—always had faith that her friend would become a successful musical artist. "Ansel is not just an actor. He's a musician and a producer. He can paint miniatures and dance like a mother--ker. If he wants to act forever, then he's going to. If he wants to be a musician, he's going to be a musician," Woodley, 24, told the magazine. "If he wants to climb Mount Everest or become a professional hang-glider dude, then that's what he's going to end up doing."

And "Home Alone," it seems, is already taking Elgort to new heights.
