After a whirlwind romance, subsequent breakup and a baby girl, Bristol Palin finally tied the knot with Dakota Meyer last month, and mom Sarah Palin is very happy.

"I love having a new son-in-law!" she gushed to E! News on Match Game earlier this week. "He's a wonderful young man, Medal of Honor winner. Such a patriot! I love Dakota."

As for the celebration itself, Sarah explained that it was very low-key. "They kept it very, very hush-hush," the politician said. "Last go around, it got very hyped and vamped up. This go around, they were just like, 'We're just going to do our thing.'"

She continued, "It was a year after they had called off the initial celebration…but it's all good. They have a beautiful baby girl, Sailor, and it's great."

Speaking of little Sailor—who Bristol welcomed into the world on Christmas Eve last year—Sarah can't help but gush about being a grandma.

"It sounds cliché that being a grandma is such a blessing," she said. "You can just enjoy this child so much. Everything that you have learned raising your own kids, you can put the good things into play with the grandchild. But it's not cliché, it's real. It's true! Everything that is good about being a mom, that's exacerbated being a grandmother."

Meanwhile, Bristol and Dakota said "I do" in early June during a secret ceremony.

"Life is full of ups and downs but in the end, you'll end up where you're supposed to be," the couple shared with ET who first confirmed the news.  "We are so happy to share with loved ones the wonderful news that we got married!"

They continued, "Hard work and God's grace are the foundation of our new life together, and with the love and support of our family we know we can get through anything."

Match Game airs Sundays at 10 on ABC.
