The Real Housewives of New York City stars took to their blogs to address the pizza-making situation. While making pizza, or in Jules' case a calzone full of silverware, Carole Radziwill spoke to the newcomer about her eating disorder, which she had been open about in the past. Jules joked she was going to put medicine such as Lidocaine and Percocet in her calzone as a joke and surprise for those to find when cutting into it, instead she settled for some cutlery. After Carole talked to her about her eating disorder, Carole and Bethenny discussed the behavior they witnessed while Jules went outside to smoke.
"The pizza/calzone scene aka the Vagina Monologues was just nuts. We know Jules is vajasian and vajewish but we needed graphic pictures to prove it. Whatever meds she's on is not my business, but asking her to keep them away from the food shouldn't be too much to ask. Lord knows that calzone was already crowded what with all the cutlery and stainless serving cups and all. I mean girl puleez," Bethenny wrote in her blog.
Later in the episode, Jules cried to Dorinda Medley that Bethenny and Carole were criticizing and judging her.
"As for her crying to Dorinda about my imaginary criticism of hers, keep it moving. Those meds have you paranoid. I have said so little about her," Bethenny wrote.
"While I refuse to engage in judgments and insults about how my fellow Housewives live their personal lives, I will say that the lack of self-awareness that some of these Yentas have is shocking," Jules wrote. "It's clear that Bethenny and Carole have their opinions and assumptions about me and that's fine — everyone is entitled to their opinions — what's not OK is thinking that your opinions (or someone else's if you don't have your own) are the truth. If you're looking for truth, you should be looking within yourself, not picking apart other people. I am the first to admit that I have flaws and problems, but how and when I choose to deal with them are my business, and if my ‘friends' have concerns, they know that I am always open to honest, caring advice. I have one moral authority, and He isn't on a reality show."
In her blog, Jules admitted the pizza/calzone prank wasn't her "best idea to date." However, she said insinuating that she suffers from "mental issues, addiction problems and God knows what else because of a dumb joke is not OK."
"I have two kids and those kinds of accusations shouldn't be thrown out at someone lightly; they are hurtful and dangerous. You don't need to be funny at other people's expense, you don't need to make yourself look smart by making someone else look dumb, and you don't need to create drama and issues where none exist just to have something to talk about."
Carole stopped by Watch What Happens Live and a caller asked if she and Bethenny were being too hard on Jules. Host Andy Cohen said the two are "getting a mean girl thing."
"Mean girls is very 8th grade language so I don't think of it that way. We're not hard on Jules at all. Jules is very open about her eating disorder. I think I've only had one conversation with her about it. She does have a lot of food issues and the show mostly revolves around dinners and lunches and cocktails, so you're around it a lot. I don't know," she said. "It's this kind of thing where I just sometimes feel from her that it's like look but don't look, ask but don't ask, and it's just a very complicated thing to navigate. So, no, I don't think we're mean girls but we're not in 8th grade either."
