Ready for some wonderful Supergirl casting news? Lynda Carter, TV's Wonder Woman, has signed on to play the president of the United States. Carter will make her first appearance in episode three of the show's second season and recur from then on.

Carter spent three seasons on Wonder Woman as the title hero and her alias Diana Prince on ABC and CBS series. Since hanging up her Golden Lasso of Truth in 1979, Carter has appeared in numerous TV shows, such as Law & Order: SVU and Hawkeye, as well as films including Super Troopers and Sky High. She appeared in The WB/CW's Smallville in a one-episode guest role in 2007 and recently popped up as herself on Two and a Half Men. Carter, 64, also tours the country singing and has released albums, including 2011's Crazy Little Things.

The presence of one of TV's original superheroes isn't the only change for Supergirl. The series is moving from CBS to CW this year, but sticking in its Mondays at 8 p.m. timeslot. Supergirl will also introduce Superman, Kara/Supergirl's (Melissa Benoist) cousin. Teen Wolf veteran Tyler Hoechlin will play the hero.

Carter's addition to Supergirl was first rumored back in March when producers teased they had a role in mind for her, but schedules didn't work out.

Wonder Woman made her big screen debut when Gal Gadot played the hero in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gadot will do a solo outing as the iconic hero in June 2017 with costars Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen and Chris Pine. Pine will play the role of love interest Steve Trevor, the part Lyle Waggoner played in Carter's TV series. But don't expect to see Carter on the big screen alongside the character she helped propel further into pop culture.

From Amazon princess to president.

Supergirl season two premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
